Day’s programme

Visiting the installation sites, the TBM tunnelling for the new safety gallery as well as the crossover area of the tunnel boring machine and existing ventilation tunnel. After the project presentation we will travel by bus from the information pavilion to the portal. From there you will take a construction site vehicle to the Hofwald crossover area in the middle of the road tunnel and also see the tunnelling made by the tunnel boring machine. At a length of 5.7 kilometres, the Kerenzerberg Tunnel is the fifth longest road tunnel in Switzerland. The overall renovation project comprises two main measures: the construction of a new safety gallery and the subsequent repair of the existing road tunnel.
